MAPIA Presents to the American Red Cross
In April of 1999, several members of MAPIA gave a presentation to members of the
American Red Cross. During the course of the evening, the MAPIA members discussed what a Public Adjuster was,
the specific role Public Adjusters play in the property insurance claims process, our licensing requirements,
and the benefits of hiring a Public Adjuster. Then they talked about building and personal property claims,
how insurance claims were valuated based on the particular insurance policies, and how the claims are prepared,
presented, negotiated, and settled. Finally, they discussed the Tenants Relocation Expense form, which applies
to tenants or lawful occupants when they cannot live in their unit. The MAPIA members felt that the
presentation that evening got a good response from those that attended. This prompted the development of a
Tenants Relocation brochure to be printed by MAPIA and given to all of the American Red Cross chapters in
Massachusetts to distribute after fire losses to tenants.
